CROPPING MANAGER
‘Kioma’ is a broadacre farming, cattle & sheep breeding / backgrounding enterprise in the Goondiwindi district. It is part of the privately owned pastoral business Aminya Pastoral, a forward thinking and progressive company with a strong focus on improving the ecological and environmental capacity of its land holdings whilst investing in staff, safety, and animal welfare.
We are seeking applicants for the role of Cropping Manager. Reporting directly to the Station Manager, the Cropping Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the 4,000-ha cropping enterprise, and will assist in operations relating to livestock, pastures, staff and associated business matters. Ideally you will have a desire and passion to continue the transition to adopting regenerative principles to improve soil health.
Applicants for this position will have:
- Minimum 4 years cropping / machinery operation experience.
- Excellent machinery maintenance & repair skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pride in clean, tidy, well-maintained machinery and grain handling facilities.
- Commitment to a safe, healthy environment for people and livestock.
- The ability to think strategically and adapt as circumstances change.
- High-level organisational skills and ability to juggle the various demands of the cropping enterprise during peak periods.
- High level of self-motivation and drive.
- The ability to work within a team as well as independently depending on the task at hand.
- Desire to understand business management principles, which include budgeting, planning, record keeping and reporting.
Desirable experience:
- Computer literate with skills in Excel and Word.
- Staff management experience.
- HR or MC driver’s license.
- A keen interest in soil health, biodiversity, and pasture management.
- General experience with livestock handling, particularly Low Stress Stock handling, and a strong commitment to animal welfare.
- Understanding of or interest in regenerative farming practices.
